My Workshop Workbooks Arrived

In a world with constant changes, flexible thinking and new behaviours are essential to innovations and sustaining success. Reframing is a key skill for expanding flexibility and discovering creative options. Changing the frame of reference through which we view challenges, situations or people is a powerful way to override our tendency to force-fit the future into the past.

As we become “educated,” we form unconscious frames or mental models around things we think we can/cannot or should/should not do. Just as a picture frame encloses a picture, this invisible frame controls the ideas or options we see in a specific situation. We learn to take pride in quick thinking and being “right” and lose our capacity to listen with “innocent ears”, thus cutting us off from new ideas.

Creative ideas rarely come to us in finished form, so we fill in the gaps with our assumptions and inferences, but act as though these assumptions were data or “truth.” These frames lock us into fixed points of view and make it hard to think “in the moment” or imagine breakthrough ideas.

Telling a good story and using stories to support your points, make solid openers, and teach people while entertaining them. We are not talking about the little anecdotes that pepper the audience. We are applying metaphors that will lead the paths we create to lead our listeners to our ideas. We will learn how to create one strong metaphor that will become a highway of attention.

Facilitation skills have become so useful in organisations that they have spread beyond the role of facilitator: to facilitative leaders; to self-facilitative groups and teams’ to facilitative individuals and even facilitative, user friendly procedures. Facilitation has become part of our everyday language. The Latin root of facilitate means “to enable, to make easy”. Facilitations have evolved to have a number of meanings today.

A facilitative individual is an individual who is easy to work with, a team player, a person who is aware of individual and group dynamics. He or she assists colleagues to work together more effectively. A facilitative individual is a person who is skilled and knowledgeable in the interpersonal skills of communication, collaborative problem solving and planning, consensus building, and conflict resolution.

The purpose of this workshop is to provide the participants with the interpersonal skills in facilitating and storytelling required to meet the challenges of their role as a leader of other leaders.

  • Increase effectiveness at generating creative ideas for facilitating & storytelling.
  • Know how ‘Frames Mental Model’ can expand and increase creativity in facilitating & storytelling.
  • Understand different ‘Frames Mental Model’ and when each is most appropriate to use in facilitating & storytelling.
  • Hook your audience by creating a “Be Interesting” environment using the storytelling techniques is a crucial part of a trainer/facilitator.

 THE PROCESS (Duration: 2 Days)

During the workshop, participants will complete a variety of individual and group activities that explore the following topics:

  • Introductory Remarks and Session Overview.
  • What is Reframing, Facilitation & Storytelling?
  • Reframing Variables.
  • How to Develop Mental Frames.
  • Practice in applying frames to “real world” on facilitating & storytelling.
  • Learn how to make messages more memorable to colleagues/customers.
  • Inspire colleagues/customers into believing and acceptance.
  • Create information into story that is fun to tell and fun to listen to.
  • Trial by Fire, to test can-do attitude by applying what have been learned particularly in the Facilitating & Storytelling Cycle Process and giving feedback.

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Acquire facilitative & storytelling skills and knowledge in the interpersonal skills of communication, collaborative problem solving and planning, consensus building, and conflict resolution.
  • Explore useful ideas from the ’Frames Mental Model’ into action.
  • Recognise the challenges and benefits of giving feedback.
  • Applying storytelling techniques to address key organisational issues.
  • Able to articulate ideas and solutions in a compelling way.
  • Appreciate feedback (gifts) as a tool for continuous improvement and a tool to make communication more effective.

To invest in this Unexpected Quality Journey is by instilling Quality towards your business.

The IGNITING FACILITATION AND STORYTELLING @WORK workshops are memorable. In the workshop, participants are encouraged to unlearn, relearn & to be playfulness. Playfulness is not about being foolhardy treating quality issues in trivial ways. What I meant by playfulness is to stay Focused on the topic, Stay open to choices and Youniquley succeed without the need of excessive control by rules.

The workshop helps individuals to think on their own and make sense of their experiences in the activities involved. They bring home skills and values that they ‘reset’ the workplace and have the discipline of getting things done.

“No human face is exactly the same in its lines on each side, no leaf perfect in its lobes, no branch in its symmetry. All admit irregularity as they imply change; and to banish imperfection is to destroy expression, to check exertion, to paralyze vitality. All things are literally better, lovelier, and more beloved for the imperfections which have been divinely appointed, that the law of human life may be Effort, and the law of human judgment, Mercy.” -John Ruskin
