You can read the Chinese word ‘luck’ both ways, The upside-down way of reading mean luck arriving.

I read that 80% of doctor visits are for health problems brought on by stress! It is a major contributor to unwanted weight gain, headaches and even joint pain. The easiest way to reduce such stress is actually the simplest and the cheapest that is – walking.

When you walk, you actually cause a pleasurable change in your body and you feel Fresher, Superb & Younique happier. Next time you feel stressed just take a short break and go for a walk.

The Unexpected Quality Journey

Beside Dr. Deming Fourteen Points on Total Quality. I believe you heard about Philip B. Crosby’s 14 steps of Quality Improvement.

They are as follow:
1. Management Commitment
2. Quality Improvement Team
3. Measurement
4. Cost Of Quality
5. Quality Awareness
6. Corrective Action
7. Zero Defect planning
8. Employee Education
9. Zero Defect Day
10. Goal Setting
11. Error-cause Removal
12. Recognition
13. Quality Councils
14. Do it over again.

Crosby did a good job popularizing the above concepts by re-packing them. In the 14 steps, two assumptions really hit home are that most of us assumed that quality meant goodness, luxury or some dreamy things. To Crosby quality was ‘Conformance to requirement’. Another assumption is that quality is intangible and therefore immeasurable. Crosby insisted that quality must be measured precisely by the hard cold cash. The true measurement of quality is the measurement of CONC – Cost of Non-Conformance. The cost on mistakes that the organization made, just tracking and adding up the cost of scraps, rework, warranty costs, service recovery, inspection labour, engineering mistakes come up to almost 25% of your sales dollars. Give me 5 percent of the CONC and I can make Quality Certainty in your organization. Drop me a line at daniel@qualipreneur.com.

Nothing happens just because it is the best thing to do or it is just worthwhile… Changing organization culture is not a matter of teaching the managers and supervisors new techniques or replacing their behaviour patterns with new ones… By the way, what is ‘new’ or ‘new normal’? It is a matter of …. The answer is @ daniel@qualipreneur.com.

On Tuesday, Feb 12, 2013 – Straits Times newspaper,
After the DPM said sorry to the nurses now the PM say ‘I should say that I am sorry….”

Make no mistakes, nurses are certainly not low-skilled workers.  It takes a lot of patience, courage and heart to be a nurse. In times of pain and illness, the actions of nurses bring great comfort and relief to patients. They not only Make A difference (MAD) they Make A Dent (MAD) in our life.

There are 200,000 words in the dictionary that we shouldn’t use including the word “sorry” which is too overly used. Practice not to say “sorry” for 6 months and you are heading towards Quality Work, Quality Life.

To me, Nurses are not only a highly skilled professional, it is a calling from God.
Drill this into your brain that God sent you here to serve your fellow friends and after you have completed your service, God bring you back. Oops, if you can’t be a nurse then teach like me, retiring from a corporate jungle because of the love to teach. I don’t use the word “teacher” as I am doing things differently from a teacher because I am a storyteller.

I will be conducting a storytelling workshop next month in Malacca. If you are interested, drop me a line at daniel@qualipreneur.com. My 2 days workshop plus 6 months of hand-holding is at Sin$5,665 per head.

“No human face is exactly the same in its lines on each side, no leaf perfect in its lobes, no branch in its symmetry. All admit irregularity as they imply change; and to banish imperfection is to destroy expression, to check exertion, to paralyze vitality. All things are literally better, lovelier, and more beloved for the imperfections which have been divinely appointed, that the law of human life may be Effort, and the law of human judgment, Mercy.” -John Ruskin

Employees today are regarded as a commodity to be used as needed. If not needed, they are put on the chopping boards.

Today’s managers work long hours and willing to cope with many Frustrated, Silly, Youniquely  puzzled annoyed situations but shy away from the problems of the people that work for them.
