Find something inspirational in Your Everyday’s Encounters

Someone complaint that there is nothing new to learn. It is relatively true because our current management system is more than 150 years old. If you are currently doing your MBA then you will realize that the materials and knowledge you are learning are from dead people theories but it is still workable.

People who complains that there is nothing to learn are defencing against changes. Change is always destabilizing and therefore it always creating fear and anxiety.

In every workshop I conducted on the first morning, I always do the “Unframing Mindset” activities to open up participants’ minds and nudge the box above the neck. Unframing mindset is like a love-hate relationship with changes. If you read William Shakespeare’s Romeo’s love did not move Rosalind so Scholars generally compared Romeo’s short-lived love of Rosalind’s with his later love of Juliet’s. That is also why for most of us who doesn’t do literature only hearsay on the story of Romeo & Juliet (1597). Romeo’s tumulus outcry is a tribute to the complexity of people relationship to change. A complexity that we have to address in order to be effective in our work.

If you still think there is nothing new to learn, please go back and do your literature. There are tons of new things to learn in History. The word history derives from two words “His-story” that is why I am a storyteller. One of Shakespeare’s greatest story is a gift to us, is the insight that our freedom comes from understanding the conflicting nature of our inner world and our relationships, love-hate of change summarizes the human condition. When we blame others because there are nothing new to learn, we tend to send a mixed messages. Mixed messages and the un-walk talk are to be expected as they are parts of the nature of being alive.

For more in depth understanding – Google Bloom, Harold Shakespeare: The Invention of the Human.

Every day, there are news things to be learned. The best source of knowledge is the seemingly routine interactions and work that we do every day with colleagues, parents, children, friends and total strangers. The problem is that these encounters often appear so routinely or unremarkably that we don’t really expect to learn anything new from them.

For those attended my workshops, you learned how to apply the 3-2-1 methods to apply one new things that you have learned. If you forget, it is okay. It is only Sin$5,665 for a 2 days Fun @Work Workshop where you meet a totally changed person in real life who is also a Quality story teller.
