Interestingly, we are just 15 days into twenty-16 and we brought A, B, & C with us.

 (A)rab conflict

(B)omb from North Korea and

(C)hina battered stock market

We don’t need superhero’s ways to deal with the above ABC serious issues. We just need to Make Money & Love Safety. To get to the point of Making Money & Loving Safety, we have to ask good questions, not waiting for good answers or “How to…”? Therefore, to Make Money & Love Safety all leaders always have to be Curious, be a continual learner and constantly evaluating everything through a personal unconscious bias.

Few good Questions for you to start in Twenty-16:

These questions will not solve the above ABC serious issues, it is to (F)ind (S)olutions & (Y)earning forward to Make Money & Love Safety in yourself and at your workplace.

 1. Am I Anxiety Disorder Oriented? (ADO)

I learned that 3% of Singaporeans are ADO compare to America of 2.5%. Why is that so for a little red dot? Because Singaporeans (not me, I am on my treadmill once in the evening) are on the treadmill every minute of their day and their goals are always link to their bosses Key Performances Indicators (KPI). One of the many causes of ADO is Stress.

I don’t intend to discuss the rest of the questions (like the 1st question) or provide answers. It’s better that you explore the “How” or the “How to” yourself.

2. How am I behaving?

3. What is my behavior when no one is watching?

4. Do I know people are always watching me?

5. Do I want to be better than the best?

6. Am I analyzing all the workplace risks?

7. What will be one of my most significant momentum shifts in 2016?

8. Am I in a desperate situation? If so, am I making a courageous decision to position my team for success or make the easy way out by chopping heads to cut cost?

9. Am I taking my staffs/peers/colleagues for granted?

10. Are people getting bored with my level of excellence?

11. Am I having the Right people? (You need to define what is right?)

12. Am I surrounded with the right people?

13. Who are the 5 people surrounding me now?

14. Am I being patient?

15. Am I being in the present?

16. Am I making a difference?

17. Am I making a dent?

18. Am I happy with my organization culture? If not, hire me.

Don’t listen to consultants that sell snake oil on Safety Culture or Quality Culture. Someone coined the term “JUST Culture” (you can Google it). I love the “JUST Culture” thinking and my belief is that company culture whatever name you coined is just an unique organization culture to their own that included Quality & Safety as one of the many values that lead to Make Money and Love Safety?

The above questions are a good list to get you started in your 2016 Unexpected Quality Journey. There are still others questions like below… or others you can think of.

  •  Am I putting my family first?
  • Am I putting my religious first?
  • Am I Investing in my children?
  • Am I Practicing Good Financial Principles? That’s saving, at least, S$100,000 in the next 10 years.

Make Money and Love Safety should take a long-term view of financial investments. You should take a long-term view of those in this area of leadership.
