Today Sharing

It’s December the last month of 2015. This means lots of things, and very few things are as Younique to the holiday season as the custom of decorating your home with the trusty fake plastic Christmas tree.

Although Christmas tree fires are not common, when they do occur, they are more likely to be serious. And we just got one on fire along Orchard Road on Wednesday evening (Dec 2). Thank God, no one was injured in the incident.

While holiday lighting and electrical decorations do contribute to the splendor of the season, they can also significantly increase the risk fires and electrical injuries if not used safely. Given these safety hazards, it is crucial that safety is a foremost concern, Here a “FSYD” SAFETY TIPS

  • (F)irst things first, read the manufacturer’s safety instructions. Replace any string of lights with worn or broken cords or loose bulb connections. Use lights that have the label of an independent testing laboratory.
  • (S)witch off Christmas tree lights before leaving home or going to bed.
  • (Y)ou never use lit candles to decorate the tree.
  • (D)on’t overload your extension cord
