This Friday Topic :“The Courage-Suite” for C-Suite
As a Qualipreneur, I am always on the prowl for new thinking. We can learn a lot from Google on how Leaders and Managers demonstrate some real reasons in changing the face of businesses in what I call “The Courage-Suite” for C-Suite.

Yes, this is 2015! With oil prices at its worst, there are many KIAs (Know-It-All’s) out there. Here’s a KIA/know-it-all kind of approach to turning around a company. “Let’s reduce the workforce in half.”

We should throw out the conventional leadership tactics often taken in tough times to reduce workforce to cut costs. We should bravely defend a bottom up “Get QWQL” approach. We need to get the board of directors and investors to go along by getting deeply involved in investing in Quality Work; Quality Life (QWQL) in the organization. By building talent management to look at how they could fine tune the workforce to be better performers rather than having to axe the lot. It is ironic as when the oil prices are back to its peak, management will have to spend a fortune seeking talent back to the workforce.

Leaders and Managers should know better to invest in their greatest assets instead of dumping them. Leaders and Managers also need to do simple things like rolling up their sleeves and engaging with their subordinates. Imagine the positive reaction if all your Leaders and Managers feeling engage with their subordinates and workplace. Shouldn’t we ought to have a total workforce that cares?

Investing in Employees’ QWQL Drives Growth
Speaking of getting engage in this time of unprecedented changes, we need to speak a language of abundance not scarcity. It’s time to create the right business and political climate. The C-Suite executive has always been bullish on employees saying that it’s time we invest in them! If that’s the case, the C-Suite mantra should be – Get employees engaged, drive QWQL in the companies and see it grows. This is the time to advocates a new kind of culture for QWQL, advocating the companies to invest heavily on Human Capital and not to slaughter the herd (who used to make money for you) whenever the oil prices dip.

Have courage and invest in the long term
We would go a step further if we want to see growth, we need to invest in ourselves, our future and be abundant in our thinking. Too often, people see the short term effect of decisions. How much will this costs in this quarter? Do we really need to show immediate results? As Leaders or Managers, you know sustainable long term growth and real results come a relentless focus in the Unexpected Quality Journey and a strong Courage-Suite (C-Suite) during uncertain times and plain old fashion “roll up the sleeves together and get it done” Quality Work Quality prevail.

Feed yourself and you tell me what you think. I would love to hear your stories.

As I belong to the older generation (60 minus 1), I still see older adults working harder than the new generation. Some of them still fencing their basic needs, raising kids and caring for elderly parents. I hope they are not the first one to be slaughtered this year.

Someone said we have 2 choices everyday LOVE or FEAR, I chose LOVE. If you are holding my 3rd workshop book, I have used the word “LOVE” to talk about Leadership on page 14 – “Leaders Stay in LOVE”.
